I wasn't really into Disney stuff when I was a kid. I preferred reading manga or watching anime... into my teens... but not so much now.

aww it's not that bad. lmao...okay i guess it is. I, too, loved the movies as a kid. But the sequels suck ass. I'm still going to get Aristocats when it comes out on February 2nd though.

If they piss you off then DON'T WATCH THEM. It should be obvious to even people who DON'T watch disney movies that they're always "happily ever after." That's why they're movies. Yes, real life doesn't happen like that. And if you don't like movies that don't reflect real life, then DON'T WATCH DISNEY MOVIES. Duh.

ROFL, that's hysterical the way you look at those cartoons. I like the conversation for the prince and Cinderella, very amusing :P

I used to love those Disney films and I still do. But now I'm obviously like 12 years older so I've come to realize that those films are way too juicy and predictable. And they're all about the same thing! Princess has some personal problems, princess meets prince but somehow they can't be together, evil stepmother/witch throws a curse on poor princess, prince rescues princess, prince and princess kiss and get married and they live happily ever after.

LOL! I always knew that Cinderella was a shopoholic ;). I much prefer these princesses, compared to the High School Musical brats that today's kids are growing up on though.

It's weird. As a child, I was always more drawn to the Disney princesses who weren't cliched fairy tales. I never much liked the ones who were hopelessly in love with the Prince or had to wait for a guy to come rescue her. My favorite was Belle-- and even though the movie has a happily-ever-after (I mean, what do you expect?), at least Belle was smart and independent and the story had a good point--beauty is only skin deep.

Oh, and Mulan kicks ass.

I love (twisted) fairy tales and I love Disney movies. Disney princesses are better off in my imagination's version of what happened. ;) All of the princes were so <em>boring</em>!

Mulan was great because she was such a badass. I have a thing for badass girls. :D

As for Cinderella being a gold digger, you're completely right. Which is probably why on YouTube there's a Cinderella video set to "Gold Digger" (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmucT5tzkm8">link</a>). Seriously, ignoring the questionable video-ing skills of the creator, it's perfect in a terribly bad way.

Mostly, I love retold versions of most princess fairy tales. When I was younger I read Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix in which Cinderella realises Prince Charming was boring as hell and leaves him for her tutor's son.

A year or so ago I discovered a short film called Dysenchanted about various fairy tale princesses and female characters (Snow White, Goldilocks, Alice, Dorothy, etc.) in group therapy together. It's fantastic, funny, and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VeFQ5DHo0">also available on YouTube</a>.
