Hmmm this is interesting. Is there a reason why it’s a ’school’ newspaper by the way? Or is that just random? Some of those topics are quite vulgar to be honest. I know the purpose of a good title is to grab your attention, and these certainly do that, but there’s a fine line between something that grabs your attention and something that is just plain rude.

How exactly are these topics discussion points anyway? They seem to be so typically one sided that no further discussions are required. The purpose of a school newspaper is to educate and inform by providing solid facts and evidence. Most of these topics are more opinions that are not backed up by facts, so no I would no publish this ad.

Ugh… I wouldn’t let them run that advertisement at all. Y es, minorities and women get special treatment, but the other two are just STUPID.

Being gay USED to be considered a mental disease, but they took it out of the Psychology “handbook” because it really isn’t. The Holocaust did happen and taking it out of history books would be denial like Japanese with certain -cough- events that happened in Asia. -coughcomfortwomencough-

That ad actually made me angry. I can’t comment on the “special treatment” thing because people will automatically be like “she’s a woman. She’s bound to say that.” but the gay thing is a load of bollocks and holocaust deniers piss me off no end. I’ve just finished reading a book [yesterday, actually] called “Witness” by Samuel Drix. It’s a holocaust memoir by a Polish Jewish doctor and it’s unbelievable. I’d recommend it to EVERYONE. It’s brilliant but horrible at the same time.

I run the newsletter at my school, and I definitely would not run those advertisements. There are parents who read the newsletter and doing so would upset a lot of people, and they would be very offensive.

It kind of makes me think about popularity and stuff. People who are known by many people and think they can take over anyone.. well.

Well the thing about the holocaust not happening is total crap, and school newspapers aren’t supposed to be putting up lies, are they?

The thing about minorities and woman getting special treatment is fine though. It’s true, too. Not all the time anyway, but sometimes they do get special treatment rather than equal treatment.

And homosexuality as a mental disease is not “seriously important”, and I am so sick of everyone trying to say everything is a disease/disorder. If you like things to be neat and perfect, you must have OCD. If you have a hard time focusing, you must have ADHD; omg I hate that so bad. It’s a goddamn personal preference, not a disease!

I wouldn’t run the ad. I think those guys are just being dumb and trying to ruffle a lot of feathers. It’s their personal opinion, yah, but it doesn’t belong in a school newspaper.

Why doesn’t science talk about the seriously important things, like being gay is actually a mental disease.
