Why RSS Is Really Important

Todays topic is the important of having an RSS ( really simple syndication) feed. I think it’s important for bloggers (probably you) to provide your feed at least to your visitors. According to technorati there are 50 million blogs and is continuing to growing in a alarming rate. RSS helps you keep up with the news that’s going on with all your blogging friends.I’ve been blog-hopping and some people just don’t bother to have RSS feeds for some reason. I guess they don’t know what it’s for or thinks that it’s really difficult. I’m telling you your missing out.

RSS feeds are also a great way to keep up with what’s happening on the web.
It can be used for news sites or blogs.
When you subscribe to someones feed by clicking on the orange (usually) logo you usually add it to a reader. The reader that I use is Google Reader, you can use something else of course like Bloglines.

Readers are usually organized and let you know if a blog that you subscribed to has a post(s) that you haven’t read yet. Sort of like e-mail. It would be kind of a hassle to go to each individuals blog and they haven’t updated yet. With RSS you will know if they already posted, that saves you time.

The thing that I really like about Wordpress is that it has an instant ping service (something to check for updates).

Feedburner is a good tool to keep up with your subscribers and what are they using to read your post. If you already signed up to a reader service I hope you wouldn’t mind subscribing to my feed *points at sidebar*

  1. There’s a “feed-reader” built in on opera, so I’m pretty lucky :)

I didn’t actually know if he was hindu… he could have easily been muslim, but I just assumed. He had that wrap thing on his head. I have no idea about different cultures (me so uncultured TT_TT) so I’m just guessing :)

  2. I love RSS. I really wish all bloggers had it. It’s a lot easier to see who’s updated without having to go through all the ones in my favorites to find out.

  3. I always forget to list my feed on my blog :P

  4. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to use your permalink whenever I’m going to teach someone about rss. hehehe.

But you are right, a lot of bloggers still don’t know what rss is.
